Sex and Drugs in the media, why even bother with censoring?
68The Radio.
So the radio is supposed to be something the whole family can listen to in the car, at home, it's a nice free thing for all of us to enjoy, even the kids do to the wonderful censorship in America. NOT. On the radio you are not allowed to say whore but it's just fine if you want to sing about how great it is being one! Is this really any better? I'd actually say it's a lot worse. I found my ten year old sister singing some really appalling things! And she's not the only one, I can't listen to the radio with her ten minutes without feeling awkward like I'm watching a sex scene with my parents, but at least they would understand what was going on.Who lets this crap on the radio? And it's not just one genre, every genre has these filthy songs on the radio that are all about being a slut, making light of drugs and cheating, this is unacceptable.
Kesha: One of the worst things that happened to the radio.
Kesha has about some of the worst, thoughtless, dirty, and even plain out repulsive lyrics on the radio. And for some reason she is HUGE. TONS of little girls all over are looking up to this scum, she practically begs them to with all of that f-ing glitter.
Examples.
song 1 that made it to the radio.
"Blah, Blah, Blah"- prettty accruate title.
"I dont really care where you live at
Just turn around boy and let me hit that
Don't be a little bitch with your chit chat
Just show me where your dick's at"
"Boy come on get your rocks off
Come put a little love in my glove box
I wanna dance with no pants on
Meet me in the back with the jack and the jukebox
So cut to the chase kid
'Cause I know you don't care what my middle name is
I wanna be naked
But you're wasted"
Song 2 "Tae it Off"
"There's a place downtown,
Where the freaks all come around.
It's a hole in the wall.
It's a dirty free for all."
"There's a place I know
If you're looking for a show.
Where they go hardcore
And there's glitter on the floor.
And they turn me on.
When they Take It Off.
When they Take It Off.
Everybody Take It Off."
Now keep in mind these are only two of her songs, and they are both on the radio.A Disgrace.
Her video "Take It Off."
'Lil Wayne: wtf?
'Lil Wayne is a rap sensation he has a huge amount of songs which would be fine, even impressive if any of them had any substance. He writes mostly about the usual things getting laid, drugs, and violence. His style consists of some repulsive metaphors, i.e. "Young Money baby, big sh-t like a horse ass," and "now pop that p-ssy like a four four, "
I felt dirty just reading that.
"Lollipop"
"Shawty wanna thug
Bottles in the club
Shawty wanna hump
You know I like to touch your lovely lady lumps"
"I get her on top she drop it like it hot
And when I'm at the bottom she Hillary Rodham
The middle of the bed
Giving getting head, giving getting head, giving getting head"
Movies.
Just about EVERY movie has a drug or sex reference whether or not it's meant for children. Movies such as Alice in Wonderland, completely about a trip, and there's the classic controversy such as the hidden penis in the Little Mermaid.http://listverse.com/2009/05/10/top-10-hidden-images-found-in-cartoons/
Drugs are cool.
There are just so many movies and t.v. shows that so bluntly (no pun intended) come out and show people doing drugs and the whole "cool scene." I honestly forget sometimes that drugs are even illegal they are so obviously accepted in society, why are we allowed to show it? Why are singers allowed to come out and say they just smoked a joint if it is illegal? It is a widely known fact that 'Lil Wayne smokes before every song, hell you can hear him during the beginning of many songs and yet that's okay, it's okay for us to know this and him to be prison free and rich and famous at that! Seriously, what is any of this showing our youth? People who look up to people like Kesha and 'lil Wayne, most of them engage in under age drinking, premarital sex, and drug use. I know many of these people, and it seriously angers to me to see such waste of time of music of youth. We can say we have censorship all e want but the truth is staring us right in the face.

censorship doesn't work - simple as that!
I agree with you and wish more people would be as shocked as you are and not allow their young children to listen to this type of music. The lyrical content is flat out profane and the videos more than match the meaning of the words. It is horrifying to hear little kids sing along to these songs because the words very offensive.
I agree also and it frightens me what children are exposed to, often without thier parents being fully aware, because these explicit lyrics are just not expected on the radio. Thank you for bringing this problem into the open.
its called freedom of speech! even though he says he does have you ever seen lil wayne smoke weed? i highly doubt it. censorship is to strick now-a-days. is because of people like you, because god forbid your precious little angels hear something so vulgar. how about you take some credit for what your kids, and or younger siblings are listening to. lil' wayne and every artist for that matter are famousand rich because people enjoy their music.what could you possibly listen, or do that is so perfect and "clean"?

"On the radio you are not allowed to say whore but it's just fine if you want to sing about how great it is being one! Is this really any better?" - LOL ... I suppose it is if you ask the corporate-controlled mass-media outlets. They certainly make money in selling the look they portray on the stupid-box.
"Blah, Blah, Blah"- prettty accruate title rofl! That's too funny!! I never heard of Kesha and at this point, I will make sure this remains to be the case. Honestly, whatever is on the radio or the TV, is basically whatever Sony (or other corporate giants, I just picked Sony because it is ... well, Sony lol) sells best. Like you said, you can dump some glitter on a half-naked girl with a beat in the background and then, with a well-designed and controlled marketing campaign: here's your new star! Yet, such "stars" fall rather quick and are forgotten quite fast. I suppose that is the good part about it, in my opinion.
The lyrics on the blah-blah-blah song are ... wow! That is the best way I can explain it. I skipped the video.
About Lil' Wayne, what can I say? What's is left of hip-hop is all to be found underground, so to speak. Real hip-hop gets no play on the major media outlets.
This is what I mean by real hip-hop - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChXlPd0H1MU, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2r8kBnGtAU
lol I see no way such video would get on TV. They challenge the system ...
On drugs: of course they're cool. They're profitable and anything that is profitable is good in a capitalistic system. Profit knows nothing about ethics. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIA_and_Contras_cocai
You would have to consider that penitentiaries and jails are also very profitable (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125641692049506073 Shares on Wall St. go up in value the more inmates a prison/jail has. On top of which once incarcerated, inmates can be used as "cheap labour" - I prefer the term slave, I think it is more accurate.
Lastly, censorship never works in my opinion. I think education is the answer and making the right choice. Thanks for writing this. Much to think about.
Cheers!
